Alain Moueix is a pioneer in bringingbiodynamic practicesto Bordeaux, a region historically dominated by conventional viticulture. His belief in working in harmony with nature and the environment has guided his approach to vineyard management and winemaking. Château Fonroque (Saint-Émilion)

Located on the prestigious limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, Château Fonroque is Alain’s flagship estate.

  • Vineyards and Terroir: The estate spans approximately20 hectares, with vines planted in clay-limestone soils that provide excellent drainage and minerality. The vineyard benefits from careful organic and biodynamic management, certified since 2005.

  • Wines: Château Fonroque produces elegant, structured wines dominated byMerlot, with smaller proportions ofCabernet Franc. These wines are characterized by their aromatic complexity, fine tannins, and remarkable ability to age gracefully.

Château Mazeyres (Pomerol)

In Pomerol, Alain oversees Château Mazeyres, another biodynamically farmed estate that reflects his philosophy of terroir-driven winemaking.

  • Vineyards and Terroir: The 25-hectare estate is located on the gravel and clay soils typical of Pomerol, with a mix of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.

  • Wines: Château Mazeyres wines are plush and generous, with ripe red and black fruit flavors, silky tannins, and a touch of spice. They exemplify Pomerol’s signature balance of richness and finesse.

Winemaking Approach
