Vineyard and Terroir

The estate spans approximately 20 hectares of vineyards, cultivated on a variety of soil types, including clay, limestone, and sandy alluvium. The Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm days, cool nights, and the mistral winds, creates ideal conditions for producing wines of balance and freshness.

Clos de l’Ours practices certified organic farming, emphasizing biodiversity and sustainability. The vineyards are hand-tended, and the harvest is conducted manually to ensure that only the best grapes are selected for vinification.

Grape Varieties

Clos de l’Ours focuses on traditional Provençal grape varieties, including:

  • Reds: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan

  • Whites: Rolle (Vermentino), Clairette, and Ugni Blanc

  • Rosé: Typically blends of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre

Winemaking Philosophy

The winemaking at Clos de l’Ours is guided by a commitment to minimal intervention, allowing the natural character of the grapes and terroir to shine. Native yeast fermentation, gentle pressing, and careful aging in a combination of stainless steel, concrete, and oak vessels result in wines of purity, complexity, and finesse.
