Natalino del Prete

Natalino del Prete is a historic, family-run winery located in the heart of Puglia’s Salice Salentino appellation, in southern Italy. For over three generations, the Del Prete family has cultivated their vineyards with respect for tradition, nature, and authenticity. Today, Natalino continues this legacy with a steadfast commitment to organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking — long before such practices became fashionable.

The estate’s vineyards, rooted in red clay and limestone soils, are planted mainly with the region’s indigenous varieties: Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Malvasia Nera. The Mediterranean climate, with its hot days and cooling sea breezes, gives the wines both richness and balance.

In the cellar, the approach is as natural as the vineyards themselves — spontaneous fermentations, long macerations, aging in old barrels or concrete, and no filtration. Sulfur is used sparingly, if at all. The result is soulful, unvarnished wines that express the raw beauty of Puglia’s land and sun.

Natalino del Prete stands as a symbol of authenticity — a small, humble estate crafting honest wines that speak of heritage, resilience, and the enduring vitality of southern Italy’s vineyards.

The wines of Natalino del Prete are a pure and unfiltered expression of Puglia’s southern soul — rustic yet elegant, deeply flavorful yet alive with energy. Made with minimal intervention and great respect for tradition, they reveal the character of both the land and the hands that tend it. Here’s a closer look at their offerings:

Red Wines

Negroamaro & Primitivo: These are the heart of the estate. Rich and earthy, they show notes of ripe black cherry, plum, dried herbs, and a touch of wild spice. The palate is full-bodied yet surprisingly fresh, carried by soft tannins and a savory, mineral edge that reflects the red clay and limestone soils.
Malvasia Nera: A darker, more aromatic expression with hints of violets, blackberry, and licorice. It offers a silky texture and an old-world charm — powerful but grounded, with a long, warming finish.

White & Rosé Wines

Produced in small quantities, Natalino’s whites and rosés are textured and characterful. Expect subtle notes of Mediterranean herbs, citrus zest, and stone fruit, balanced by a gentle oxidative touch that adds depth and personality.
