Perego & Perego
Perego & Perego is a family winery rooted in the rolling hills of Rovescala, in the Oltrepò Pavese region where Emilia and Lombardy converge. Founded by brothers Marco and Giorgio Perego, the estate revives the legacy of their great-grandfather with a profound respect for tradition and terroir. Their vineyards—about 10-11 hectares—sit on slopes of clay and limestone, under a microclimate that tempers sun exposure with cooling breezes, creating ideal conditions for authentic grape growing.
Farming is organic and attentive: minimal pruning, thinning of the bunches, management of soils with plant-based nutrients, no chemical treatments, and manual harvesting. Within the cellar, they avoid added sulphites (keeping levels very low), reject synthetic yeasts, and combine traditional methods with modern enological tools to craft wines that are expressive, pure, and true to their place.
Working especially with Croatina (known locally as Bonarda), as well as Barbera, rare autochthonous vines, and other heritage varieties, Perego & Perego creates a range of reds, rosés, and skin-contact/orange wines that balance vivid fruit, structural integrity, and mineral tension. Each bottle speaks of the rugged beauty of Rovescala—deep roots, local identity, and a vision of wine that honors both past and future.

Perego & Perego’s wines are expressive, natural, and rooted in the clay-limestone hills of Rovescala, where the climate gives both strength and finesse. Their reds—often built around Croatina with touches of Barbera or rare local varieties—show vibrant dark fruit, earth, and herbal tones with lively acidity and well-balanced tannins. Wines like Giubilo or Barocco tend toward depth and complexity: jammy cherries, plum skin, spice, underbrush, and hints of smoke or cocoa in more matured bottlings.
Their orange and skin-contact whites (for example blends of Riesling Renano, Riesling Italico, Cortese, Malvasia) deliver texture and intrigue: dried apricot, tea leaf, hay, citrus peel, maybe a touch of bitterness that keeps them lively. Rosés and pet-nat style offerings bring freshness—red berry, floral notes, crisp finish, often softly fizzy or lightly sparkling. Across the board, Perego & Perego wines emphasize terroir, authenticity, and minimal intervention—unfiltered, low sulphur—producing bottles that feel alive, honest, and deeply connected to their place.
