Tenuta Fornace
Tenuta Fornace is an organic winery in Italy, rooted in the long-wine history of Oltrepò Pavese and Piedmont. The Rossi family, vines growing since 1823, tend over eighty hectares of vineyards spread across multiple estates—Rovescala, Canneto Pavese, Santa Maria della Versa, Mornico-Losana, and the Colli Tortonesi.
They champion native grapes—Croatina, Barbera, Pinot Nero, Riesling, Timorasso, and others—and make a broad spectrum of styles: still reds, rosés, whites, orange macerated wines, pet-nat and metodo classico sparklers. Farming is organic and biodynamic; fermentations are spontaneous with indigenous yeasts.
Each wine reflects its place: vivacious, characterful, often with texture and freshness. The reds show deep fruit and regional authenticity; the whites and sparkling wines carry brightness, minerality, and aromatic lift. Tenuta Fornace wines feel alive, honest, and expressive of the hills in which they are grown.

Tenuta Fornace’s wines are expressive, vibrant, and deeply tied to the hills of Oltrepò Pavese and the Colli Tortonesi. The whites, often crafted from Riesling and Timorasso, show bright citrus, orchard fruit, and floral notes, with a mineral core and, in some bottlings, the added texture and grip of skin contact. Orange wines bring complexity and depth—layers of dried apricot, tea leaf, and subtle spice balanced by freshness and a long, savory finish.
The reds, led by Croatina, Barbera, and Pinot Nero, range from juicy and approachable to structured and age-worthy. They carry flavors of cherry, blackberry, and plum, accented by herbs, spice, and earthy undertones. In certain cuvées, dried or late-harvest grapes add richness, darker fruit tones, and a lingering, velvety finish.
Rosés and pet-nat sparkling wines highlight the playful side of the estate—vivid fruit, crisp acidity, gentle effervescence, and a sense of immediacy that makes them perfect for early enjoyment. Across the range, the wines are unfiltered, naturally fermented, and minimally handled, offering bottles that are alive, characterful, and unmistakably authentic to their origin.
