Steiger-Kalena is a boutique winery nestled in the hills of Molise, Italy, founded by Giulio Steiger and Margarita Kalena with a vision of crafting wines in harmony with nature. Established on thirty hectares of rugged, biodiverse land near Casacalenda, the estate preserves woodland, pastures, and olive groves alongside its carefully planted vineyards. Farming follows an organic, low-intervention philosophy—using only copper, sulfur, and compost from the farm’s own animals—allowing the vines to thrive in clay, limestone, and sandy soils. Working primarily with Montepulciano, Aglianico, and the local Tintilia, Steiger-Kalena produces vibrant, character-driven wines that are expressive of Molise’s overlooked yet remarkable terroir. Each bottle reflects authenticity, respect for the land, and a passion for this wild corner of southern Italy.
