Schödl

Weingut Schödl is a family-run estate located in the Weinviertel region of Austria, where the Schödl siblings — Mathias, Viktoria, and Leonhard — craft vibrant, terroir-driven wines rooted in organic and biodynamic principles. The winery embodies a new generation’s energy: combining deep respect for tradition with a modern, ecological mindset. Their vineyards, spread across the rolling hills of Loidesthal, are farmed without synthetic inputs, focusing instead on biodiversity, soil vitality, and gentle handwork.

In the cellar, the family takes a natural approach — spontaneous fermentations with native yeasts, minimal sulfur, and patient aging in stainless steel, large oak, or amphora. The result is wines that are alive, precise, and expressive of their origin.

Schödl’s style captures the essence of the Weinviertel’s cool climate: crisp freshness, fine texture, and purity of fruit. The estate’s mission is simple yet profound — to let nature speak through the wine, crafting bottles that are honest, energetic, and full of character.

Socials

The wines of Schödl are a lively and authentic reflection of the Weinviertel’s cool climate and limestone-rich soils. Crafted with minimal intervention, they showcase clarity, energy, and a sense of place that bridges precision with playfulness. Here’s a closer look at their offerings:

White Wines

Grüner Veltliner: The estate’s cornerstone grape, offering notes of green apple, white pepper, and fresh herbs. On the palate, it’s crisp and mineral-driven, balancing purity with gentle texture.
Riesling: Bright and focused, marked by citrus zest, stone fruit, and a saline edge. Its linear structure and vibrant acidity make it both refreshing and age-worthy.
Weissburgunder & Chardonnay: These wines show more texture and roundness, often fermented in neutral oak or amphora. Expect subtle orchard fruit, hazelnut, and a fine, creamy finish.

Orange & Natural Wines

The Schödl siblings experiment with skin contact wines that express depth and individuality. These cuvées are lightly amber, aromatic, and tactile, revealing layers of tea leaf, dried apricot, and spice — wines that invite curiosity and reflection.

Sparkling Wines

Their Pétillant Naturel (Pét-Nat) bottlings are bright, joyful, and unfiltered — a snapshot of the vineyard’s vitality. Expect lively bubbles, notes of pear, citrus, and a hint of wild yeast complexity.
